Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. They are read and processed by your browser and never sent to a server.

Which files can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF. For animated GIFs only the first frame is used. Very large images (over about 16 megapixels) or files over 40 MB may fail, especially on phones.

Why is the result sometimes larger?

Already-optimised images can grow when re-encoded. The tool warns you so you can keep the original.

What happens to transparency?

JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. Choose WebP to keep it.
